It's one of those day's that I can't sit outside and relax under the perfect summer sun, it's one of those day's that I sit inside, debating whether or not to fall asleep, and eventually decide to write instead. I am trying to do something productive with my life. I just read the blog that URI has set up for all the students to look over ,and it sort of inspired me to write more on my own personal blog. The last post came from a professor who works in the library named Andree Rathemacher, who came up with a good idea. She said that she hopes someone from the school will initiate a group that will conserve our nature, and maybe even look into getting more local food's for our cafeteria. I think that is a good idea, because I know that there is a good amount of people who are willing to do something like this, who realize what is wrong with out nation, and the world and how we can change that. This would be a great way to get people working together and would make them more eco-friendly at the same time. It really is a disaster what we're doing to our earth, and we need to change it somehow. Getting together to form an eco friendly group at URI could make people more aware about what is really happening every single day, and could get more people to jump on the eco friendly bandwagon. We all take a few small steps at a time, towards changing the world.

Over Consumption becoming rediculous

In this novel, Beaven states that according to research "98.5 percent of what we suck out of the ground, the rivers, and the forests ends up being trucked straight to the landfill or the incinerator without it ever even being used by us." If you do the math out of all the raw materials that we take from our planet to make products, only 1.5 percent of it actually ends up in our hand. That is not a good rate. Why are we taking all of our resources from their natural location, and using them to create things that don't even end up being used? It's things like this that need to be reformed, changed, so that we can make our earth a better place. Why are we using this much material if we don't get anything out of it, and it eventually ends up at the landfill, that is idiotic. We are stretching our stupidity to levels that shouldn't even exist, if we want to have products all the time, then why are we keeping these rates up, if 98.5 percent of the material we use end up in the landfill before being used what's the point of using all of these natural materials. The point Beaven is trying to make in this novel is that we are always living so fast-paced that we never take the time to slow down and realize the damage we are doing to ourselves, and our earth. We're all going to pass away some day, it is bound to happen, so why don't we take the time every day if not for an hour just 30 minutes of your day, to observe what we're doing, to slow your day down and relax. Why are we living in such a rush, if we only have so much time to live. We need to slow our day's down, and take time to observe what is wrong with our earth.
